Twenty years…and looking forward.

For almost 20 years, I have had the pleasure of being a team member at Current360. (I can’t believe it’s been that long!)

When I came on in 1995, we were a six-person agency that was very strategic and creative. But we didn’t know a lot about running a business. So we learned (the hard way). And looking back, those lessons were tough. They kept us up at night—as did the deadlines and new business pitches that we so desperately wanted to land. But as bright as we were, we often suffered the “you guys aren’t big enough” blow after the first round of presentations. It was a conundrum. How could we grow, if potential clients didn’t give us a chance? Luckily, there were many who did. And today, we’re made up of more than 40 talented people, we’re employee-owned and we have a great mix of clients that we assist with our experience and creative talents.

Ever changing world of marketing

I’m often asked what I do for a living. It’s a topic I take great pleasure in sharing, because I continue to love this business, even 20 years later. In the world of marketing and advertising, there is always something new to learn. It could be a new business opportunity, a new social platform, new ways to mine data or best practices for SEO. Heck, Google changes its algorithm once a month, so we’re always staying current with that platform. There’s new programs and updates to stay on top of, new printing methods and products to review and recommend.There’s never a dull moment and each day is different. So for an ADD gal like me, it’s the perfect world. I get to move around the office, a lot, meeting with various departments, and we have a nice variety of clients to serve.

Culture breeds creativity

The other thing I appreciate is our culture. If you know anything about C360, you know we have a great group of people, unique workspaces and we make time for fun. Our building, Bakery Square, was built in 1870. It’s has a bit of an open layout that lends itself to spacious offices with great views that open up into a horseshoe-shaped courtyard, which is a wonderful place to work during the spring and fall months. Some of our most fun moments are usually totally random, like when folks bring in bagels or fresh garden veggies to share. Or Field Day, when we take a half-day to compete in three-legged races and a water balloon toss. Or popsicles on hot days and parties to celebrate Halloween and 30-year milestones. All I know is I laugh several times a day at work, and everything I read tells me that’s healthy.

Looking forward, it’s wonderful mentoring the younger folks as they take the reins and put their own spin on our culture and future business goals. We have some of the best and brightest in the business, and I can’t wait to see what the next 5, 10 and hopefully 20 years bring.
