Vine – Get on Board

Recently I decided to give Twitter’s newest acquisition, Vine, a try. For those not in the know, Twitter describes Vine like so:
“Vine is a mobile service that lets you create and share short looping videos. Videos you post to Vine will appear on your Vine profile and the timelines of your Vine followers. You can also share your video posts to Twitter or Facebook.”
When Vine launched, I admittedly didn’t “get it.” Now, I am hooked. Given the somewhat slow adoption rate, I am guessing that most marketers don’t get it yet either. The 6 second format establishes a necessary boundary that will in time prove to be the “tweet” of video content. A user can quickly – and very easily – splice together several shots into an animated montage of sorts. I expect to see some wonderfully creative executions from some big players in the coming weeks.
The 6 second video format has captured my imagination to the point that Instagram seems almost boring. Don’t believe me? Check these out:

As the Twitter folks roll out some updates and open the platform API, adoption rate is sure to increase over its current pace. Get on board now.
