Old Navy Blossoms into…irrelevance?

Has anyone else been getting a kick out of the Old Navy 80’s flashback commercials? The first featured Mayim Bialik and Joey Lawrence from the sitcom Blossom. The last couple have been 90210 themed, set in a high school, and star various cast members from the show.

What’s interesting to me though, is whether or not back-to-schoolers even know who these people are. I suppose Old Navy shoppers range in age, as they do sell adult-sized clothing. But when I think of Old Navy’s brand, I think of the younger generation. It’s hard for me to imagine the younger set appreciating a spoof of Kelly choosing between Brandon and Dylan. Or understanding where Joey’s “whoa” comes from.
I’m interested to see if they continue the theme. Who knows, maybe a Saved by the Bell reunion? Screech isn’t doing much these days.
